Paradise Valley Healing Center is a private residential center, specializing in treating a broad range of addictive behaviours and psychological trauma. We are nestled on a peaceful 10-acre property set on the banks of the Cheakamus River, only an hour’s drive north of Vancouver, BC. What makes us unique is our holistic approach to healing, that promotes balance and integration of body, mind and spirit.
We are the first holistic addiction treatment program, combining the latest in modern Western medicine with the traditional healing arts of the East. Formerly known as Chopra Addiction and Wellness Center and founded on the principles from the Freedom from Addiction program developed by Deepak Chopra, M.D., the program emphasizes physical, emotional and spiritual healing. In addition to the deep work that is done in individual and group therapy sessions, guests receive instruction in the timeless tools and techniques of Ayurveda, the world’s oldest healing science. Included in the Ayurveda treatments are yoga, meditation, yoga therapy, massage, acupuncture and vegetarian cuisine.
Our clinical program involves a collaborative bio-psychosocial and spiritual assessment. Guests experience a high standard of care from highly trained and compassionate healthcare professionals committed to providing the safety and expertise needed to work on underlying issues. The Center uses innovative evidence-based techniques and well-known established therapies. Treatment plans are customized to meet guests’ needs. With a maximum of 9 residential guests, a high level of personal care and attention is assured.
Smoking accounts for the majority of deaths for those seeking professional help for substance use disorders. We consequently feel it is a critical opportunity to provide safety and expertise to support smoking cessation. Also, neurological research suggests not using nicotine improves work that may be occurring related to psychological trauma.
Smoking is not permitted for guests while they are residents and there is no smoking allowed on the premises.
We believe a balanced vegetarian diet low in fat and sugar is an optimal nutritional plan for wellness. Enjoying delicious healthy meals, honoring your appetite, and eating with awareness, gratitude, and respect create important connections for the body and soul. Learning about the planning and preparation of nutritious meals can be fun and allows an opportunity to include family and friends to be part of the experience when you return home.
