At Paradise Valley Healing Center you will experience yoga classes on a daily basis. Yoga is one of three fundamental tools that support the holistic healing approach aimed at promoting balance and integration of body, mind and spirit.
In the West, yoga is often seen as a physical practice to help strengthen and tone the body. The practice of yoga helps to improve flexibility, strengthen muscles, improve posture, and enhance circulation within the body. However, like meditation, the benefits of yoga go beyond the purely physical. Traditionally yoga asanas, or poses, were developed and practiced in India to help the body and mind become and remain flexible during long hours of meditation. At its core, however, yoga is much more than just a system of physical fitness, with asanas only forming one of eight limbs or components of a complete yoga practice. It is a science of balanced living, a path for realizing full human potential, and a tool to cultivate the ability to remain centered in the midst of turbulence.
The word yoga is derived from Sanskrit and literally means, “to unite”. The essential purpose of yoga is the integration of all the aspects of life – environmental, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual. Yoga is the union of body, mind and spirit.
At Paradise Valley Healing Center we practice The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga. The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga is a consciousness-based yoga practice that beautifully blends yoga poses or asanas, meditation, mantras, pranayama or breathing exercises, yoga philosophy and chakra toning with the timeless principles presented in Deepak Chopra’s best-selling guide The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success.
These timeless practices that were developed by Dr. David Simon and Dr. Deepak Chopraand presented in the popular book The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga, integrate5,000-year-old Vedic wisdom with modern yogic interpretations, creating a daily yoga practice to help raise your level of physical vitality, clear physical and emotional blockages and toxicity from body and mind and awaken your joyfulness and enthusiasm for life. In conjunction with regular daily meditation sessions and following an Ayurvedic diet and daily routine, the Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga practiced at Paradise Valley Healing Center supports an integrated and holistic program of healing to restore balance and wholeness. Itis a practice that encourages you to take what you learn on your mat and incorporate it into your daily life – to cultivate an inner state of centered awareness that cannot be disturbed by the inevitable turmoil of life.
“Enhancing flexibility and releasing stress are as noble a purpose for performing yoga as the awakening of spirituality. This is the great gift of yoga – it serves and nourishes us at every level of our being and spontaneously contributes to greater well being in all domains of life. Yoga will help you discover gifts within yourself that have remained unopened since your childhood – gifts of peace, harmony, laughter, and love.” The Seven Spiritual Laws of Yoga by Drs. Deepak Chopra & David Simon.
